Loved and respected by fans for his quiet demeanor and exciting, offensive style of play, Brian Leetch entered the 1993-94 season with the Rangers recovering from a broken ankle that cost him the prior season. New York felt his loss, as the team missed the playoffs. Upon his return, Leetch matched his own career-high of 23 goals in a season, going on to help the Rangers win their first Stanley Cup in 54 years. Brian Leetch became only the second player in NHL history to win the Norris Trophy, the Conn Smythe Trophy, and Calder Trophy in his career, and was the first American and non-Canadian to reach many records throughout his years with the Rangers.
